Liturgy
"Yes, if only I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men to
myself." John 12:32
The center of our common life together as the people of God
is prayer, and the centerpiece of that prayer is the Holy Sacrifice of
the Mass. The Old Catholic Church of America through its Episcopal Synod
has approved for use throughout the Church the following Missals, containing
the Holy Liturgy: The Old Catholic Missal promulgated by Bishop
Arnold H. Mathew with approbation of the Archbishop Gul of Utrecht, Missale
Romanum promulgated by Pope St. Pius V (and incorporated in the Gul/Mathew
Missal by reference), and The English Missal published by Knott
& Sons. The latter is most readily available, and thus in the more
common use in our parishes and missions.
We are pleased to present here the text of the Ordinary and
Canon of the Mass from the "Knott Missal" in parallel with the Latin text
of the Roman Missal. We will similarly present here the Mathew/Gul Mass,
and other liturgical texts, as we can prepare them, over time.
