Official Catechism
"That
thou mightest know the certainty of those things wherein thou hast been instructed." St. Luke 1:4
The Fourth General Synod of the Old Catholic Church of America, held in September, 1975, commissioned the compilation of a Catechism of Instruction on the major truths of the Faith. In response to that mandate, the first edition was completed and presented on the Feast of the Transfiguration, August 6, 1978.
It
is with the greatest pleasure that the Old Catholic Church of America places this first edition, revised and updated on our webpage as an electronic document for those faithful Christians, who are seeking to learn more about Christ and His Church.
Let
us commend to God the work of the Catechetical Commission of 1975, who dedicated their time and ministry to the development of this document. At least one has entered into the nearer presence of God. We give thanks to our Blessed Lord for this new step in sharing the Teachings of the Church Catholic, and most especially this updated and revised edition of the Catechism of the Old Catholic Church of America.
